Bottega SpA, the Italian family vintner, introduced its Alexander range of Italian whiskies during the AmberSky onboard retail event in Riga, Latvia.
The first batch of Bottega’s Italian whiskies features three expressions. Each was aged for five years in wood barrels.
There is a 40% alcohol by volume (ABV) whisky, aged in red wine barrels, a 43% expression aged in Brunello di Montalcino DOCG casks and a 46% whisky that has spent five years in Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG barrels.
Alpine water was used during the making of the whisky, which is twice distilled. The malt comes primarily from Italy.
The labels of the Alexander range of Italian whiskies feature the mountain range that can be seen from the distillery.
Bottega has long been involved in distilling. Sandro Bottega spent time in Brazil, with the distillery owner Giovanni Pessetto, to gain insights into the process of singlt malt whisky distilling.
“The uniqueness of our whisky lies in the fact that we are among the first to put Italy on the whisky production map. We are working to define its profile, using our own casks that previously held some of Italy’s finest wines, resulting in a high-quality, natural whisky shaped by ageing and our terroir,” explained Valentina Dalle Mule, Global Account Manager – Airlines at Bottega SpA.
