IFSA targets talent
April 15, 2020
The IFSA Foundation is now accepting applications for its 2020 scholarship cycle. The deadline to submit for consideration is 15 May 2020.
Open to IFSA members and their families in addition to students pursuing a career in the onboard services industry, the scholarships are funded by the industry and support training and development across a range of fields.
The International Flight Services Association (IFSA) Foundation serves as the philanthropic arm of IFSA. The scholarship programme is designed to advance education and the growing catering and inflight/onboard hospitality communities. In order to increase awareness and attract potential future leaders, the association invites students at global hospitality and culinary schools to apply for these scholarships.
From leading a global catering company to running an inflight product division to directing the operations of an airline, students are encouraged to see there are
multiple avenues to within our industry, with airlines and railways always in need of good people to outline strategies, develop talent, manage budgets, optimize supply chains, oversee operations, define networks, generate revenue, improve customer loyalty, and develop brand and marketing initiatives.
The scholarships can also cover those looking to become part of product and service development teams across food and beverage, service and hospitality, cabin interior, lounges, and digital innovations.
Sandra Pineau-Boddison, IFSA Foundation Board President: “I always say that the airline, catering and onboard services industry is the best kept secret for professionals pursuing a career in customer service and hospitality. I began my journey working in the inflight catering kitchen for a major airline and never imagined the opportunities I would have throughout my almost 30-years in the industry. I worked in operations, finance, planning and design, customer service and a multitude of related functions. The people you meet and work alongside are the best in the business and the destinations you will discover along the way are incredible.”
Scholarships range from $1,000 to $25,000 and may be used to cover college tuition, books, living expenses, and any other costs associated with college or educational opportunities.
