Onboard Hospitality Awards 2021: Recognising Excellence, Resilience and Innovation

We are pleased to announce the Onboard Hospitality Awards 2021 are now open for submissions.

Now more than ever we need to celebrate the remarkable resilience and talent within our sector.

As we enter the eighth year of the Onboard Hospitality Awards, we want to shine a light on the incredible efforts you have made throughout this challenging year to keep solvent, sane and safe.

We want to provide a unique showcase for the creative ideas you came up with to face the new normal and support changing client needs.

We know you are still facing challenges, so this year we are going to do things a little differently. Our usual categories have been condensed to make way for two new free-to-nominate special recognition awards.

This year’s categories are:

• Best Onboard Amenities
• Best Onboard Beverage
• Catering Innovation of the Year
• Best Onboard Service Equipment – Passenger
• Best Onboard Service Equipment – Crew
• Best Onboard Kids Kit/ Service/ Catering
• Best Onboard Snack
• Best for Sustainability Onboard
• Best Use of Onboard Technology
• Best for Onboard Textiles (including Wearable Textiles)
• Best for Wellbeing Onboard
• Ones to Watch – not yet onboard

All entries enjoy exposure on our website throughout the voting period as well as through our social media and within the magazine.

Winners will be promoted in Onboard Hospitality 86 and throughout the year in print, digital and social media.

New for 2021: Special Recognition

In light of the challenges around COVID-19, Onboard Hospitality this year wants to celebrate and share the stories of how you, your team and your business have coped with the crisis.

We are pleased to announce two new special recognition awards:

Company Excellence in Approach and Actions During Covid-19
Individual Excellence in Approach and Actions During Covid-19

In these free-to-nominate categories, share your story with us, be it an individual or team effort.

Tell your story by…

• Writing a blog for our dedicated ‘inspirational stories’ platform
• Sharing captioned photos for a gallery page on our site
• Or through a video, be it something you produce or through a recorded virtual Q&A call with our team (questions can be pre-scripted to help you tell your story your way)

Every submission will be included on our platform for at least three months and we will drive viewers to them through our e-newsletter and social media activities, encouraging airline buyers and suppliers to read, comment and vote for their favourite stories.

Our international panel of expert judges will take these comments into account before choosing the winners.

Cabin Concept of the Year 2021

This prestigious award for airlines recognises cabin-wide innovations created by multiple touchpoints, coming together to support a new and specific vision for the cabin.

Who judges?

Our judging process is the best in the business and comprises of our international readers and our highly-respected judging panel of industry professionals.

All of Onboard Hospitality’s 19,000+ subscribers – made up of international buyers and suppliers, all experts in their field – can vote online.

Our esteemed judges also review all products and services entered and the combined result of both the readers and the experts forms the short-list.

The finalists are then personally examined and assessed by our judging panel, a group of distinguished experts with over 350 years of inflight experience between them, chaired by Onboard Hospitality’s former editor, Jo Austin.

And together make the final decision on the winners in each category.

Mentoring Prizes

All those who enter the Onboard Hospitality Awards are also eligible to receive one of two Onboard Hospitality Mentoring Grants which includes support for those building business in this sector, media exposure and recognition for those already developing new talent.
