Austrian Airlines new Business class amenity kits feature a collaboration with the Museum for Applied Arts (MAK) in Vienna, Austria.
For the first time, industrial production templates have been created of textiles designed by Dagobert Peche (who lived from 1887 to 1927), Mathilde Flögl (1893-1958) and Koloman Moser (1868-1918).
All three were members of the Wiener Werkstätte, a Vienna-based production collective that was active between 1903 and 1932. It specialised in applied arts, including textiles, jewellery and furniture.
The MAK houses the world’s largest collection of Wiener Werkstätte objects.
On behalf of Austrian Airlines, skysupply collaborated with the museum team to establish a two-year partnership, with each artist’s design featured for eight months.
The first pattern, by Dagobert Peche, now adorns the Austrian flag carrier’s inbound and outbound amenity kits in two colours. Earlier this year, his works featured in the Peche Pop: Dagobert Peche und seine Spuren in der Gegenwart solo exhibition at the MAK in 2025
The new Business class amenity kit has two pouches of recycled polyester Jacquard, both featuring Peche’s design.
One features a dark red and white pattern, while the other combines light and dark orange tones.
Following Peche’s designs, kits with designs by Mathilde Flögl and Koloman Moser will be introduced.
The rectangular, zippered pouch includes a front tag with the designer’s name, the year that the design was created and a note on the collaboration with the MAK.
A banderole states: “Limited Edition Austrian Airlines with MAK – Museum of Applied Arts.”
The kits contents include a paper-wrapped bamboo toothbrush, two paper-wrapped toothbrush tablets, paper-wrapped earplugs, socks and a sleep mask. The sleep mask is the same pattern as the pouch and the socks reflect one of the pouch’s colours.
The amenity kit represents another step in Austrian Airlines’ commitment to sustainability. They are recycled and made of durable materials that reduce waste and extend the lifespan of the product.
The unique artistic design and practical reusability encourages passengers to keep the pouches as collectors’ items, extending their use well beyond the journey.
