All Nippon Airways (ANA) is collaborating with Chiikawa, a manga series created by the illustrator Nagano, to create vibrant travel experiences for its passengers.
A specially designed Chiikawa Jet is at the heart of the collaboration. Depicting Chiikawa and seven other characters from the manga series on the fuselage, limited-edition inflight items will be available onboard the Boeing 767-300.
Chiikawa originated on X (formerly Twitter). The series is described as: “…a fun, slightly sad and somewhat hard daily story unfolding with highly individual characters such as the always-trying-hard Chiikawa and friends Hachiware and Usagi.”
The franchise has expanded into merchandise, collaboration cafes and corporate collaborations. Eight volumes of the book Chiikawa: Something Small and Cute has been published by Kodansha.
The anime Chiikawa has been broadcast on Mezamashi TV (Fuji TV network) since April 2022. The movie Chiikawa: The Secret of Mermaid Island was released in Japan on July 24, 2026.
Exclusive to ANA, the Chiikawa travel experience will be available on select domestic routes in Japan from late October 2026.
Chiikawa and friends Hachiware and Usagi are depicted on the fuselage along with motifs that can be seen across Japan during the four seasons.
Headrest cover designs feature the Chiikawa characters that appear on the aircraft fuselage. Available in domestic Economy Class, the headrest covers are for inflight use only and cannot be taken home by passengers.
Limited-edition cups with designs featuring Chiikawa, Hachiware and Usagi will be used for beverages and available in domestic Economy Class. The items are subject to change, depending on the day’s operational status.
Products featuring Chiikawa and other characters wearing ANA uniforms are scheduled to be released.
Details regarding future flight schedules and the exact start of service will be announced on the official ANA website as soon as they are finalised.
