Alaska Airlines treats travellers to Michelin-starred meals

Passengers flying First class on Alaska Airlines will be treated to Michelin-starred meals from August 28 thanks to a new collaboration with chef Brandon Jew, owner of San Francisco’s acclaimed Chinese fusion restaurant Mister Jiu’s.

The James Beard award-winning chef has personally created the menus for first class passengers flying on Alaska Airlines between New York JFK and San Francisco international airports, and the meals can be preordered from a special menu featuring chef Jew’s signature dishes.

Dishes such as black cod and tofu, slow-braised duck and sesame egg noodles, and Chinese congee breakfast porridge will be available to order, with a seasonal rotation of different dishes for the initial partnership of at least one year.

“We’re grateful to chef Jew for his partnership in this exciting initiative and ongoing commitment to elevate the travel experience for our guests with sky-high hospitality and world-class cuisine,” said Alaska Airlines’ Managing Director of Guest Products, Todd Traynor-Corey.

“Our relationship with chef Jew traces back several years ago, including working together to give back to the residents of San Francisco’s Chinatown. His commitment to quality, gastronomic craftsmanship and philanthropy aligns perfectly with our values.”

The airline also recently began offering chef-designed hot meals in its main cabin for flights more than 1,100 miles.
