Air India has introduced Premium Economy Class on its London Heathrow to Mumbai service as it brings its latest generation Boeing 787-9 aircraft to the key route.
Air India flights AI131/AI130 will be operated by the new 787-9 aircraft featuring all-new cabin interiors designed exclusively for the airline.
The new dedicated Premium Economy cabin has wider seats in a 2-3-2 layout, a 38-inch pitch, a more generous recline, adjustable headrests, adjustable leg and calf rests, plus a 13.3-inch 4K QLED HDR touchscreen.
Passenger will be able to enjoy next-generation inflight entertainment, powered by the Thales AVANT Up system with high-definition touchscreens.
All cabins will also have Bluetooth audio connectivity, USB-A and USB-C charging ports and AC power outlets.
Other tech enhancements include Bluetooth headphone pairing, enabling guests to enjoy an entertainment library of over 3,000 hours using their own Bluetooth-enabled headphones, and new mood lighting inspired by ancient Indian wellness traditions.
Refreshed onboard menus will showcase Indian and international flavours, serviced on premium chinaware, glassware and tableware. Bedding and amenity kits have also been improved.
Air India’s second daily service between Heathrow and Mumbai will continue to be served by its upgraded Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, featuring First Class.
