Air India is set to enhance its Delhi-Toronto route from August 1 by deploying its new line-fit Boeing 787-9 aircraft. The upgrade allows the carrier to eliminate the fuel stop in Vienna, subject to airspace availability, transforming the northbound journey into a non-stop operation.
The line-fit 787-9 introduces Air India’s three-class layout to the Canadian market for the first time, featuring 30 Business Class suites, 28 Premium Economy seats and 238 Economy seats.
Passenger comfort on the ultra-long-haul route receives a substantial boost. Business Class offers private suites with direct aisle access, 79-inch fully flat beds, wireless charging and 17-inch 4K QLED HDR touchscreens.
The deployment also marks the introduction of Premium Economy on the route, configured in a 2-3-2 layout offering a 38-inch pitch, calf rests and 13.3-inch screens. Economy Class features ergonomic seating with 11.6-inch displays and integrated device holders.
All cabins will have the Thales AVANT Up inflight entertainment system, delivering over 3,000 hours of content, Bluetooth audio connectivity and full power access via AC, USB-A and USB-C ports.
Soft product upgrades include wellness-inspired mood lighting, refreshed menus served on new chinaware and glassware, updated bedding, and redesigned amenity kits.
Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Air India, said: “As we continue transforming Air India into a world-class global airline, we are steadily expanding the availability of our newest aircraft and latest cabin products across key international routes. The introduction of our new Boeing 787-9 on the Delhi-Toronto route marks another important milestone, bringing a significantly enhanced travel experience to customers between India and Canada while extending our most premium offerings across North America.”
