Tigerair Taiwan has selected Bluebox Aviation Systems to supply wireless inflight entertainment (IFE) on its Airbus A320 aircraft.
The airline has 17 A320s and the deployment will be powered by Bluebox Wow.
The battery-powered portable wireless system will deliver the Blueview digital services platform to passengers’ personal electronic devices.
The service will mark Tigerair Taiwan’s first IFE system.
Passengers on the A320s will be able to access IFE that includes a mix of non-DRM (Digital Rights Management) and DRM-protected content. The content will encompass a broad line-up of content, including regional favourites plus Hollywood movies and TV.
In a later phase, Tigerair Taiwan and Bluebox plan to expand the platform to include order-to-seat retail, to build on the airline’s strong inflight ancillary sales performance.
Bernard Hsu, Chief Commercial Officer of Tigerair Taiwan, said: “This partnership with Bluebox supports our goal of enhancing the onboard journey with a simple, accessible digital experience for our passengers. Launching inflight entertainment for the first time is an important step in evolving our service offering.”
Kevin Clark, CEO of Bluebox Aviation Systems, commented: “Tigerair Taiwan has built a strong reputation for driving ancillary performance, and we’re delighted to help amplify that success with the right digital tools and a flexible infrastructure. Bluebox Wow and Blueview allow airlines to introduce a modern inflight entertainment experience quickly, while laying the foundations for future services such as onboard retail – without the complexity of traditional installations.”
