On the right tracks
The World Travel Catering & Onboard Services Expo (WTCE) will bring the newest on-trend products to Hamburg from March 31 – April 2 2020
Rail networks are expanding fast. According to the Williams Rail Review, the average growth in passenger kilometres across major European networks has been over 50% in the past 20 years. As rail travel becomes increasingly popular, passengers expect higher standards and the sector looks to innovate to meet their demands.
This year’s World Travel Catering & Onboard Services Expo (WTCE) will bring 350 of the newest on-trend suppliers to Hamburg from March 31 – April 2 2020, looking to support just these needs.
For those looking to improve their catering offer, suppliers including LSG Group, En Route International and Kaelis On Board Services will return to the show alongside 60-plus first-time exhibitors, including Qikfresh, Yangzhou Haisheng Slipper Co. and Stoats Porridge Bars Ltd. They will aim to show how the most innovative food, beverage and foodservice equipment can help rail operators.
IRCG returns to demonstrate best in rail onboard service
Returning to WTCE for its seventh consecutive year, the International Rail Catering Group (IRCG) will invite attendees to join its team on stand 3C60 where it will present its travel catering consortium. Its members represent the top rail catering operators from across Europe and North Africa – including companies such as DSB, DB Fernverkehr AG, Elvetino and Great Western Railway – the group supports the development, quality and value of catering and hospitality across the world’s rail networks. Visitors to the stand will be able to source guidance and advice on the benefits of joining the IRCG, and information on the rail catering industry in general.
Petr Pospisil, president of IRCG, said: “The show is one of the most important events of the year for the IRCG and continues to showcase the very best of the industry. As ever, we’re very excited about participating in 2020 and are looking forward to presenting our consortium and valued members.”
Sustainability a key focus in 2020
Rail is gaining a growing reputation for its sustainability credentials and will be part of the mix during sessions on the Taste of Travel Theatre, being moderated by Onboard Hospitality.
In response to industry demand, this year’s programme will be largely themed around the topic of sustainability and will address packaging, supply chain transparency and next-gen eco demands, as well as hosting live demonstrations from top chefs.
The theme will be reflected on the stands too – from cutlery to coffee cups, recyclable and biodegradable goods will be widely featured and Stoats Porridge Bars will take the wraps off its 100% plastic-free packaged products.
