Buzz Qantas Curates

Q.Tell us a little about the product, its background and how it came to market
A. The Qantas Curates range of amenity kits celebrates the ‘spirit of Australia’ and features artwork from leading Australian artists, photographers and digital influencers. Professional art curators selected the artworks from Australian artists specialising in a variety of different styles including pop culture, photography, fine art, abstract landscape, Indigenous art and textile design.

The Qantas Curates programme includes 16 different designs (eight for men and eight for women) with two updated designs launched every few months. The vision is to grow awareness of contemporary Australian art and give travellers a collectible piece of art to take with them. The amenity kits also include ASPAR by Aurora Spa skincare, an eye mask in the same artwork as the kit, a dental kit, earplugs and travel socks.

Q.What do you think puts this product ahead of others in the same field?
A. The Qantas Curates programme has been recognised for its eye-catching and fun designs, that links the airline with a celebration of its country and promoting local artists. In awarding Qantas Curates the ‘Best Business Class Amenity Kit’, the Onboard Hospitality awards judges acknowledged the programme as imaginative, exciting and giving passengers a little something extra.

Q.What need or onboard trend does the product address?
A. With at total of 16 styles, there is a variety of art to collect, allowing regular Business travelers to be rewarded with a new fresh design. Customers also love the kits’ functionality and reusability as make-up bags, an evening clutch or for organising tech items.

Q.What product trends/ airline demands will you be responding to next?
A. For over five years now, Buzz has been actively seeking to create a lighter environmental footprint. We have recently launched a new sustainability programme to inspire our partners to join us in our sustainability efforts. To date, Buzz has diverted 63 million bottles from landfill, transforming them into our versatile certified ecoTHREAD™ products.

Q.How does your team develop or source new on-board products and ensure it stays ahead of the curve?
A. The Buzz team are global citizens with a passion for travel and design. Our designers, thinkers and makers work collaboratively, nurture creative thought and celebrate innovative thinking. We are avid researchers, we dive into global intelligence and align to macro trend shifts, including social issues such as sustainability and health and demographic changes that affect buying patterns and consumer behaviours.

Q.How will winning an Onboard Hospitality Award help your business?
A. Buzz is regularly recognised with awards for our industry-leading programmes and it is exciting to be recognised for our efforts. Whilst our products speak for themselves, having independent recognition by a panel of industry experts certainly adds value.
